John “Big John” Harriel, Jr. and Jeremiah Gordon (Black Worker Center)

John Harriel Better known as “Big John” (left) in the construction industry is the Employee Diversity Manager/ Superintendent for Morrow-Meadows and the electrical industry in general. Harriel holds 21 years worth of experience under his belt, some of which include a 5-year IBEW apprenticeship, OSHA, NFPA 70E, photo-voltaic, scissor and boom lift, Anti-Harassment, and FMI certifications and Electric supervision qualification.  Harriel also Participates and assists his team with implementing training and development for employees, act as a corporate liaison with customers, employees and the community regarding employment opportunities and development/training, assisting customers, employees and the community with proven methods for educating and developing opportunities for potential new employees plus more. John “Big John” Harriel while being known in the construction community for his hard work also and most an advocate for diversity in the construction industry here in the city of Los Angeles.

Jeremiah Gordon (right) began his organizing journey as a student leader at the University of California, Riverside. Jeremiah saw a need for greater enrollment of Black students. Jeremiah helped advocate and demonstrate against the university’s admission policies. He alongside other Black community members demanded that the university foster more outreach and campus support for Black students. This resulted in UC Riverside creating an outreach program for Black community college and high school students. Jeremiah now works as the new community organizer with the Los Angeles Black Worker Center.
